Does this happen to you that you come across some random thoughts and then they suddenly vanish from your memory?
It does happen with me. Very often.
But today, I thought to share it here, so that it remains in my memory.
It’s Sunday and for me Sundays are beautiful. I don’t do anything. Lying idle on the bed is a beautiful feeling.
While I was looking at the ceiling today, a question came to my mind. What is this Glass-ceiling? Is it really restricted to gender and class or it goes beyond that too?
Since nobody else was around to answer, I answered it myself. I don’t know how correct I am but my answer was satisfactory enough to convince my mind.
So my answer was quite weird and maybe some intellectuals will call it disgusting. But still, I will share.
Answer to the first half of the question:
Glass-ceiling – A ceiling made up of glass. If it’s a glass, it’s quite fragile. But suppose it’s made up of a hard glass. But I don’t think it will make a difference, it’s still brittle.
So if it’s such a weak, fragile, brittle ceiling, why so much fuss about it?
Then I answered the second part of my question:
What is gender? : A person who can be called a man, a woman or a third gender. Is this all about gender? If a group is approaching me and I am asked to identify its gender before they reach me. What should I say? Can a group be called a man, woman or a third sex? Then I decided I’ll ask them individually what they feel about their gender, which gender do they think they belong to. But what about class?
When I was in school, there were all kinds of children, some were rich, some poor, some middle class. Some had different castes, some belonged to different religions. But all of us were together in a Class. Then I grew up and found a different meaning of Class altogether. The same children who used to be a part of our class, now identify themselves as a different class. This really confused me!
Then I realized my thoughts went too far and I got distracted from the question. So I came back.
Scope of Glass-ceiling: It obviously has no scope. I think first of all it should be made with a concrete material to have some scope. It’s vulnerable to bad calamities. And second, I would like to question those who have made specific categories and assigned roles to each of them. I hate such people. Just because of their systematic arrangement, I’m also forced to be organized and systematic. What’s wrong with being messy? But nobody answers me. They say it “should be” like this only.
Then let the Glass-ceiling be like this only. If you don’t have the courage to pick up a stone and throw it upwards, then let it be. Save your head and this “no idea who made it” Kind of system.
I know it was a weird thought, but randoms are weird!
